Title: Drawing on Japanese Children’s Daily Lives
This workshop will demonstrate how teachers can use elements of the children’s surrounding environment and their daily lives to create lessons that are both meaningful and relevant. By focusing and drawing on the lessons of “The Four Seasons” and “The Weather”, many activities which are highly motivating, stimulating and require active student involvement will be introduced. These practical ideas are suitable and adaptable for all classroom learning situations.

Biography
Laura Blefgen-Togashi graduated from York University’s Concurrent Education program in Toronto, Canada with degrees in Education and Psychology. She has been teaching in Japan since 1988, and is the owner/head teacher of Canadian Conversation Club – a private English school in Kunitachi City, Tokyo. She is also currently working with several public elementary schools implementing programs for grades 5 and 6 in the Period of Integrated Studies. Canadian Conversation Club specializes in material development for elementary school children and conducts workshops for all teachers in both English and Japanese.
プロフィール
富樫ブレフゲンローラは、カナダ、トロントのヨーク大学で教育学および心理学の学位を取得。1988年より日本で英語を教え、東京国立市にある民間英会話学校カナディアン カンバセーション クラブの代表兼主任教師を務める。
また、数校の公立小学校で総合学習の時間に５，６年生の英語活動を担当している。カナディアン カンバセーション クラブは小学生用教材の開発を行い教師のためのワークショップを英語と日本語で行っている。
